Thanks for saying what many were thinking (although I'm guilty of Corolla-bashing myself when the time is right). The Corolla is a cornerstone, like it or not, and it's here to stay. Have a stock AE86.

That's so stock it hurts. WHERE DO YOU EXIST IN 2014?!

I just wish that Toyota would blow everyone's minds and make the next GT86 and Corolla based on the same (still sporty) RWD AND FWD platform again, maybe with some 4WD potential.

Only in GIS apparently.

I feel the urge to hug this car, somehow.

I agree. I'd even take a AWD option over straight FWD.

Let it know it's going to be okay, we won't let anyone hurt it like it's seen happen to its brothers.

If demoting me to a burner status was supposed to silence me, I don't think its working.

I probably drew in more click revenue for this site in a few days than most commentors do in their entire lifetime, because I like stirring the pot.

I'm the last person so sing the praises of the Corolla. I don't like it, I wouldn't buy it. That is pretty much it. But the constant, circle jerk mentality to just hate it for arbitrary reasons?

Someone had to say something and all of you bastards were no where to be found.

Here, here. Arbitrary hate leads to groupthink and is a mask for intellectual sloth. And I'm at work! Not enough time to argue coherently.

A certain man (Who has a very Japanese name hint hint nudge nudge am I subtle enough?) insinuated that people who buy Corollas are rats following the pack who have no ambition and don't care about cars (Eh? I thought them buying a Corolla was because they didn't care about cars in the first place?) and other ramlbing things making inferences on peoples lives and ambitions based off which econobox they picked.

Well fuck me. I drove a Suzuki Swift+ which was basically a Chevy Aveo. Does that mean I'm also a rat with poor taste in cars who won't amount to anything because I follow the pack? My road to medicine somehow seems confused by such large leaps in logic.

If you're gonna hate a car, hate it for pragmatic and valid reasons. Not the silly ones. I don't defend the Corolla, I simply understand its existence and more importantly I don't let it annoy me.

I'll never look at anything with a Toyota badge on it. Not because I exactly hate the brand, there is just nothing that tickles my jimmies. That doesn't mean I want them to burn in a fire for their 'sins'. Or whatever. Its actually annoying to even try to deal with that kind of mindset.

We're talking about the current Corolla right? Because I feel the AE86 is jimmy tickling.

Current absolutely.

Its probably too much to ask for a clean, well kept AE86. Cause THAT is something I'd like to have in the garage at some point. They did their older cars 'right' to enthusiasts more or less.

totally agree with your comment. as far as toyota vehicles: have you ever looked at/driven an old FJ40, FJ60, or a 85-89 4runner? their tops come off and they have awesome reliablility. still don't know why toyota threw in the towel in 89 and let jeep own the convertible SUV market. It doesn't make sense! Naw, i kid, they decided to soccer mom it up with the new ones.

Blast me on my hate for TGUSA if you must, but I never said such shit.

That's what I was just thinking. It's like a soldier standing in a field of its dead or injured comrades, an old person with no family or friends left who can walk to the bathroom. AE86 charity, anyone?
